Field stories · Five real deployments

What the cameras saw.

Five facilities. Five things nobody knew. Every camera was recording. Until Mantid, none could speak.

At a glance

Setup

Three pilot stores. 14 cameras per store running through Mantid's spill detection model.

What happened

Week one: 14 spill events detected. Zero reported by the safety team. Three were in high-traffic zones during peak shopping hours. The kind of spots where one slip becomes a six-figure claim.

Outcome

Pilot expanded to 40 stores within 90 days. Workers' comp claims at pilot stores dropped by a third.

“We thought we had a reporting problem. Turns out we had a detection problem.”

Setup

Every acquired facility ran safety differently. The VP of Operations needed one consistent baseline across 9 sites without a year-long harmonization project.

What happened

Mantid deployed across all 9 DCs in two weeks. Within 30 days it identified 3 facilities with chronic blocked-exit issues that had never appeared in any inspection report. The receiving crew stacked overflow pallets against the emergency exit every night and cleared them every morning before the safety manager arrived.

Outcome

Exits were permanently cleared within a week of detection. First time anyone had visibility into night-shift behavior.

“Nobody knew. The cameras knew. They just couldn't say anything.”

Setup

PPE compliance was enforced by shift supervisors walking the floor 3 times per shift. Compliance rate on paper: 97%.

What happened

Mantid flagged 47 PPE violations in the first week that supervisors hadn't caught. Most happened in the 15 minutes after shift change, when the line was running but the incoming supervisor was still in handoff. The walk schedule was the gap.

Outcome

Plant manager adjusted handoff procedures so PPE enforcement was covered during the transition. The fix took one day.

“The fix took one day. The insight took six years to find.”

Setup

The VP of Transportation knew trucks were sitting too long. She couldn't prove it. The YMS ran on driver self-reporting and manual gate logs.

What happened

Mantid's Operations Suite captured every gate-in, yard movement, dock assignment, and gate-out. Automatically. Average turnaround was 41 minutes longer than appointment-based estimates suggested. The extra dwell concentrated at two stages: yard-to-dock assignment and dock release.

Outcome

Yard dwell dropped 18%. Bay utilization went from 52% to 74%. $640K in detention fees recovered in year one.

“We knew we had a problem. We just couldn't see where the time was going.”

Setup

The CFO had quotes for a $4M facility expansion. The COO wanted to verify the existing footprint was truly maxed out before committing.

What happened

Mantid ran for 90 days. Bay utilization was 52%. Over a third of dock doors were sitting empty at any given time. Trucks queued at the gate while doors sat empty inside, because scheduling ran on paper, not real-time occupancy.

Outcome

After optimizing with Mantid data, utilization hit 74%. Same doors. Same docks. Same building. CFO shelved the $4M expansion.

“That's the equivalent of building half a DC for free.”

What will your cameras see?

Every facility we've deployed at has surfaced something nobody knew was happening. The numbers vary. The pattern doesn't.
